One Race Or Three?
I think this argument depends on the value of a horse who wins the Preakness alone versus the value of a Triple Crown winner.
For Discussion: It has been remarked that there will never again be a .400 hitter in baseball because of the rise of relief pitchers. Similarly, it has been suggested that there will never again be a Triple Crown winner because owners of distance horses bypass the Kentucky Derby to keep their entries fresh for the longer Preakness Stakes and Belmont Stakes.
