Mules And Asses
LOL.
Click through for the picture!…..and Pebbles is NOT. All this time I have been telling folks she is a burro, but actually Pebbles is a MULE. Not a burro. But half burro. Which makes me half-assed? I love her no matter what she is, but you have to know that due to growing up in Bishop, Ca. the self-described Mule Capital of the World, I am of course delighted to have a mule on the property. And I am still going to get that “hauling ass” bumper sticker for the horse trailer.

Cowboys And Nutcrackers
I've always thought Nutcracker would be a great name for a horse, but others think it's a cowboy ballet.
Little did I know when I took my walk in the park yesterday, I would be in for a special treat. Looking into the creek bed, I saw her. A ballerina extraordinaire, performing her rendition of the nutcracker suite in cowboy boots. How could you not stop to watch, capturing that Kodak moment. But, as I soon discovered, I was not the only one capturing her performance, as the final photo will show. A special “Thank You” to that ballerina, whoever you were! Bravo… Bravo…

Animal Rights And Animal Welfare
Good comparison of Animal Rights groups and Animal Welfare groups.
Animal Rights - organizations that support animal rights philosophies seek to end the use and ownership of animals. Animal rights organizations seek to abolish by law: the raising of farm animals for food and clothing, rodeos, circuses, zoos, hunting, trapping, fishing, the use of animals in lifesaving biomedical research, the use of animals in education and the breeding of pets.

Hollywierd's Reality
This blogger doesn't like the qualification of Brokeback MountainThe comments conclude with one from a self-satisfied elitist declaring Hollywood caters too much to the "lowest-common-denominator crowd" who like animated "Christian myths" and "snuff" films, as he refers to "The Passion of Christ". He declares the new homoerotic main streaming of cowboys as an example of a "serious quality film with a substantive theme".

Weird Science: Fast Animals
Number 6 on the list of fastest animals? The quarter horse.
Okay - now with the top five out of the way guessing the next five is a little harder. Would you believe number 6 spot goes to (the envelope please) - The quarter horse?

Big Goats
Also, Loner had heard a few weeks ago from a gal in Athens who had three goats who needed a home. They're all nannies, and they're Boer goats. Loner kept thinking that they would be just a little bigger than Sheba (a Nubian). No way. When Ryan got here with his horse trailer and persuuaded the first goat to come out, Loner said, "Man! She's big!" Ryan's response? "Ma'am, you ain't seen nothing yet." We got Nellie (as in Whoa, Nellie!) and Jenny (the mom) and another daughter whose name eludes me for the moment. Each one is at least eighty pounds, with two of them easily topping 100.

Horse Races Or Christmas Shopping
I told my dad to withdraw money from the bank for tomorrow. I plan to do all my Christmas shopping tomorrow, before my oldest brother comes in. It’s starting to look like this weekend might be the only time I have to buy gifts. Next weekend, I’m going out to California with my family. Eating dinner at Fogo de Chao and watching the horse races the next day. Maybe I can go shopping :].

BrokeBack Mountain As Sodomite Apologia
The cover ‘art’ shows anti-Christ through two male actors mastering the look of the disappointed woman (implying they dare not look at each other lest they smooch without control ) wearing Cowboy hats (as archtypical sodomite symbols of manliness) who long to be emotionally satisfied but can’t because of those mean old moral norms of the outback and uneducated of Amerika per the film.

Review: Brokeback Mountain
Another view on Brokeback MountainBrokeback is a love story and a tragic one at that. Don’t let the hats fool you. It’s far more Titanic than Silverado. It’s the story of Ennis Del Mar (Heath Ledger) and Jack Twist (Jake Gyllenhaal), two cowboys who meet one summer while herding sheep in the mountains of Wyoming. Unless you’ve been living in a pop culture bubble the last few months, watching the first half hour of the film can feel at times like the wait for the shark in Jaws. You know these two are going to give in to their desires buried so deep. It’s just a matter of how and when.

I Don't Like Gambling
A rant against wagering on horses.
I'm not a religious right moral values propaganda spewer, but I don't like gambling at all. I especially don't like when gambling is sanctioned by the state. It leads to the wrong type of environment and that's not what Yonkers needs. Get these people good jobs for crying out loud. Oh, and I don't believe in betting on horse races either but alas, that's one that I probably would never win. I don't even like playing the NY Lottery I do it when my mother tells me to buy a ticket LOL. Can you imagine if the money people spent on gambling was actually used to fix some of the problems we have in the state? Yeah we would not have anymore millionaires and billionares but we'd have people with a stronger foundation and a brighter future.

American Church Rant
Vox clamantis in deserto.
i have to say, something does seem to be lost (something good?) if we become a nation of disconnected churches, all as autonomous as the inconic american cowboy.

Hitting It Off
Our first date we went out to dinner and we really hit it off. The next day we went to the Del Mar horse races and things went even better. After the races we went to the Del Mar Marriott for food and to listen to Jazz (every Wednesday and Saturday night they have one of the best Jazz bands I have ever heard).

Where There’s Smoke, There’s Rednecks
A provocative title, to be sure, but think about western sterotypes; cowboy hat wearing, truck driving, right wing… smokers. Walking from City Hall through Stephen Ave. Mall, it was amazing how many were huddled in doorways, or puffing in groups. Not once was I beyond nose–shot of the smell.

Rodeo Time
Don your cowboy hats and boots in Las Vegas!
The UNLV air is redolent with horse excrement and parking is completely jacked up, which can mean only one thing: the rodeo is in town. If you don’t know what I mean, read this from the LVRJ:

Stockholm International Horse Show
The Stockholm International Horse Show looks a little different that horse shows in the U.S.
Oh, and I’m still working on a new layout. Been busy all weekend, watching the Stockholm International Horse Show, so I’ve been pretty much living in front of the TV this past weekend.
