Horse Race Handicapping
From a horse racing fan:
I love horse racing and years ago my affection with statistics almost got the best of me, as I loved to handicap horse races and eventually for the sake of my well being, I gave it up. Nowadays occasionally I like to spend the odd hour watching and wagering on races that are beamed right into our living room and my formula is very simple, I am an omen bettor. Basically I bet on a horse whose name has some connection with me through events that day, or people I know.

Cowboy Boots
Once a tomboy, always a tomboy.
From birth I've always been the tomboyish type, always hated wearing dresses, wanted toy guns for probably the first 10 or so birthdays, wore cowboy boots with shorts, etc. I am still carry vestiges of this persuasion in my preference for pants (see Low-Rider Jeans post), and it takes something on the magnitude of a dear friend's wedding in order for me to (1) wear a dress or (2) wear makeup.

A Man And His Horse
I completely missed HidalgoHopkins was a pony express man, who also participated in (and won many) cross-country horse races. He is part Souix, and so when he delivers a message to Wounded Knee, he is indirectly responsible for the slaughter of many of his people. This sends him into an alcoholic tail-spin and a denial of his heritage.

Watching Rodeo And Skiing With Justin
Click through for the cool rodeo video.
My friend Justin’s brothers team rope. His brother Matt made it to the National Finals Rodeo a few years ago where I think he earned rookie of the year. Here are some clips I shot at one of Matt’s rodeos, and some of us skiing.

Horse Buying Tips
Good tips on how to buy a horse.
Here are some solid horse buying tips from Dean, you might want to read my article on buying a horse at public auction also. Just take your time and look at a lot of horses. You will not miss the horse that is meant for you if you do you homework and seek help from a farrier, vet, and a good horse trainer. Pay for the help if you need to it will be money well spent, trust me on that one.

Super Frolic In Dubai
Dubai is quite the horse center these days.
After that race, Cerin said he gave the son of Preakness Stakes (Gr.1) winner Pine Bluff a brief vacation before beginning to focus him for Dubai. Super Frolic worked six furlongs at Santa Anita Park in 1:13.20 on January 26 and then was shipped to Gulfstream, where he fired a bullet half-mile in :46 on Tuesday.
