Can't Curb My Enthusiasm

horse training Horse-trainer interaction is key to successful horse training.
And like us humans interact differently with each other , so horses have different energies. Invariably, the ride with the first horse will be pardon the phrase "a horse of a different color" with the second shooter. Different energies. The first horse, Picken rated real well with, wasnt in racetrack wanting to be in the lead.

John Wayne Saddle

horse john wayne saddle If you want a saddle for someone special, check out the John Wayne commemorative saddle here.
To pay tribute to that spirit, Cricle Y saddles created the John Wayne "Courage" saddle- and what a fitting tribute it is! The saddle is modeled after one of John Wayne's own and features intricate hand-tooled floral designs, engraved brass rigging, sterling siver Mexican Peso conchos, and a inividually numbered collector's plate on the cantle back.

Equine Soulmate

horse canter For every horse, there's a rider.
This describes perfectly my recent rides on Picken.. She has truly become my equine soulmate; we both love to leg it out and cover country. Not always the case (at least for me ) When I first got her and was a total newbie rider, it was a fearful experience; and she had my number immediately. Through time and training (mostly mine) we are much more in synch. I do know that she will always have her "testing me " days where as Patrick and I say... she makes us be creative. Her life started on the race track, and while I purchased her after her racing days... she's 100% registered throughbred An elegant mare.

Biting The Hand ...

horse training Good story on training a horse that bites.
The horse you see her with here, was a confirmed and dangerous biter who had torn the shirt right off her father’s back. They had kept him because he was excellent under saddle, but it was getting more difficult to justify the risk.

It's All About The Hat

horses kentucky derby queen elizabeth Hats off to Queen Elizabeth for attending the Kentucky Derby.

Finally, the real thing tomorrow, something that I truely hold near and dear to my heart is the Kentucky Derby. Blame it on my upbringing, blame it on the Kentucky school systems, hell, there is nothing to really blame it on, the Kentucky Derby is probably the most spectacular sporting event ever. Hell, even the Queen will be there, so it can’t be all that bad…

An American Royal Commission

horse high fashion cowboy boots An artist's commissioned work features cowboy boots!

With this painting, I am pushing my style into a whole new direction that I’d never really thought about. It’s what I’d call an over-the-couch or mantle kind of painting, 44.5″ long by 15″ tall. I’ve decided to call it “Line Dance,” it has 5 high-fashion cowboy boots lined heel-to-toe. The boots are bright and highly designed.
