Arabian Trash Talk

horse arabian with colt The problems when people talk trash about your Arabians.
There isn’t anything that makes me crazier than people trash talking Arabian horses. Ever since I can remember I’ve wanted Arabian horses. Growing up in Seattle’s Beacon Hill neighborhood, any kind of horse was out of the question and I was teased if I even mentioned an equine. But even when I did get to a farm or around horse people where you’d think they would understand about my dream, the mere mention of an Arabian horse met with all kinds of disparaging remarks not to mention laughing and jeering. I quickly learned not to talk about wanting horses and in particular my breed of choice.

Will I Ever Get Back To It?

horse bay arabian gelding After a car wreck, this rider wants to get back in the saddle before his bay arabian gelding gets too old.

I still plan on getting back into endurance riding. I attempted to start up some sort of training schedule back last october, but my injuries from the car accident were still too raw. Plus, my main man, “Junior/Jay” (Shah Hameer - bay arabian gelding) is starting to look his age a bit. He’s 17 years old this year…hard to believe. I may not get the pleasure of his company on any of the tougher rides I would like to accomplish in the future.

Horse Whisperer Shows Off

horses scottsdale arabian horse show Click through for more from a first-time visitor to the Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show.

I went to my very first horse show this weekend. Horse Whisperer competed in the Region 7 Arabian Horse Show in Scottsdale, taking home several ribbons along the way. I didn’t know what to expect - maybe boys spitting chewing tobacco on my shoes and older women showing me the roses tattooed on their boobs.

Review: The Young Black Stallion

horses the young black stallion cover A short review of The Young Black Stallion.

The story of the Black before meeting Alec. Abu Já Kub ben Ishak breeds the fastest and strongest Arabian stallions. One black colt stands out from the others as being the largest and wildest. Soon, though, the Black is stolen by a Bedouin scout, who is working for Mansoor the Cat. What will become of the Black?

Waiting For The Show

horses arabian stallion Getting to the show on time.

Tonight we’re going to see the Arabian Nights dinner show. Maybe Dean feels a little guilty for the trauma that was this morning. I didn’t have to ask more than once if he wanted to see it, and he agreed without too much of a fuss. We received a free admission voucher with the vacation package, and got 25% off the 2nd ticket. Dinner is at 8:30, but we are supposed to be there by 7:30. Can we conquer the clock and make it in time??

The Big Day

horse arabian stallion on the loose The day the horses got loose.

15 of the 19 horses loose that day were Susan's Arabian horses. They were a couple of bad apples those horses. The entire neighbourhood felt real bad for M. Erica. M. Erica went down the road and really chewed out Alf Grandiston. Alf Grandiston was at the time keeping Susan's Arabian horses.
